TradeStart provides training
in Certificate II in Engineering -
MEM20105
to school students and young unemployed people
in the Bendigo Region.
TradeStart is an operational Metal
Fabrication Workshop situated in Sutton Lane
Eaglehawk.
Students attend for 1-2 days per week
learnng the skills of welding (including: ARC, MIG & Oxy),
Occupational Health & Safety in the work environment, safe and
correct use of power tools and how to work as part of a team in a
workshop environment.
Students are referred to TradeStart from
Secondary Colleges around Bendigo and young unemployed people are
referred from Service Providers.
Students who attend TradeStart are
looking to secure apprenticeships in the following
industries:

Metal Trades
-
Plumbing
-
Building and Construction
-
Painting and Decorating
-
Carpentry
The skills that students learn at
TradeStart can be transferred to these
industries.
On completion of training, students are
assisted in career pathways, further education and training, job
search skills and are also linked to potential tradespeople who are
thinking about employing an apprentice.
Students are looking for projects from
organisations to give them experience in using tools and
equipment.
These might include manufacturing the
following products:
- Equipment Stands,
Whiteboards, Outdoor Settings, Gates, Fencing,
Tables, Trolleys,
Bookshelves, Brackets, Workbenches and
more.
- Items can be made to
your specifications.
